This piece was commissioned by a customer. She handed my a piece of paper with a stick figure reaching up and a stick figure hand reaching down. She could see the dawn breaking through a stormy sky. She could see a man standing just ankle deep in the edge of the water. God was calling the man to put aside his fear and, “Come out a little deeper”. The invisible hand of God represents the invitation along with a promise that He is with us as we “Step Into The Deep”.
“Going on eastward with a measuring line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through.” Ezekiel 47:3-5
